Lucky Race Parts (LRP) brings you a direct-fit, performance velocity stack (intake funnel) kit for the Yamaha R6. Developed through extensive CFD analysis and dyno testing, the LRP velocity stack kit replaces both the upper and lower funnels with components designed purely around airflow efficiency, acoustic resonance tuning, and peak power delivery. These velocity stacks greatly improve top end HP, provides a smoother power delivery and shifts the peak power later in the rev range.

The dyno chart shown is a genuine representation of the expected performance from these velocity stacks (red) vs stock (blue), thanks to Dynoverks. The runs were done on the same day, same setup. More importantly, the bike used for testing was already tuned by Dynoverks, resulting in a fair comparison against the stock velocity stacks.

The chart shows a peak power difference of 2HP, but that’s not the headline here. The difference is the continued pull all the way to redline. The stock stacks make a short peak power at 14500RPM then drop off, ours keep climbing, with a long continued peak well past 15000rpm. The result, an average gain of 3-4hp from the previous peak power all the way to redline. Instead of just showing the person in front a wheel, you’ll be past them before the apex. Additionally, the disturbance seen 12700RPM caused by the top stacks lifting is greatly reduced, resulting in a smoother power delivery and better drive out of corners.

How They Work

This isn’t another snake oil, golf ball dimpled, empty promise accessory. We’ve taken fundamentals that have been proven to work, applied them to improve the flow characteristics of the stacks and more importantly, tune the intake resonance to create a power curve that is ideal for racing.

Elliptical bellmouth entry geometry
Where the stock funnels use a conservative circular arc entry, the LRP stacks use a true elliptical profile. This reduces the vena contracta effect that reduces flow at high RPM, allowing the intake charge to accelerate smoothly to the throttle body without boundary layer separation.

Reduced intake runner length
After the upper funnels lift away, the lower funnel length directly determines where the intake resonance peak falls. LRP lower funnels are shorter than stock, shifting that resonance peak further along the rev range.

Asymmetric upper funnel lengths
The outer two upper funnels are shorter than the inner pair. This addresses the lean transition event that occurs when the funnels lift at approximately 12,700 RPM. Shorter outer funnels create less aerodynamic disturbance in the airbox, produce less interference with the airbox injector spray pattern, and stagger the resonance transition between inner and outer cylinder pairs. The result is a cleaner transition without the power loss seen with equal length designs.

Straight bore tube sections
Stock funnels have a slight taper through the tube section. The LRP funnels run a straight bore throughout, with a consistent cross section for cleaner acoustic resonance and uniform flow velocity.

PA12-CF construction
Printed in carbon fibre reinforced PA12 nylon. Dimensionally stable, fuel resistant, heat resistant to 130 degrees and lighter than the stock plastic components. The same base polymer used in automotive fuel and brake lines, its able to withstand the continued heat cycling and fuel spray inside the airbox.

Fitment

2008–2016 Yamaha R6
 2017–current Yamaha R6

Compatible with stock airbox, all standard airbox hardware retained.

Tuning Requirement

A fuel tune is required. Running these on an untuned stock ECU will result in a lean air fuel ratio at high RPM and at the velocity stack transition point, which can cause engine damage.

Compatible tuning solutions include a Dynojet Power Commander fuel controller or a full ECU reflash. Strongly recommend a dyno tune to properly calibrate fuelling across the full rev range and optimise the transition point for maximum benefit.
